Halloween and the Spiritual Meaning of Trick or Treating

by Sep 11, 2019Blog Article, Supernatural

What does it mean in the spiritual world when we say “Trick or Treat”? As an archaeologist who experienced the spirit realm from close by I would like to share with you whatI learned about “Trick or Treating” and explain the history of the trickster. I am not writing this article to judge anyone. I celebrated Halloween myself for a long time. Since I grew up in America I understand the tradition and even brought it to Holland. We used to be the only family in our neighborhood to dress up with groups of children and go trick or treating. It was great fun. Especially because of the CANDY!

But I have to write this article, so people understand what they are doing. I didn’t know the truth behind Halloween back then, nor did I understand it’s significance in the spirit world. But I had to learn the hard way, and I pray that the real trickster will never come to your door and say trick or treat, for most of us will go for the candy… and fall!

In 2012 we were tricked by someone who came in love but actually was a witch. She also came to our door with gifts and offered us the gift of knowledge. As a very sweet person, she asked: “Do I have permission to be here?” As an archaeologist and scientist we did not previously believe in the spirit world and were easily tricked. We fell for the ”candy” and went through six months of hell (For my complete testimony click HERE or read it in my book Awestruck By Glory). The candy worked like a contract. Without knowing it, we had allowed evil and then experienced the spirit world from close by and quickly woke up! I am sorry to tell all those who think it’s just a game and not real, that they are wrong. Evil is very real and the candy is not free. A price had to be paid.

Thankfully we were rescued by an unexpected savior: Jesus, who pulled us out of the darkness. I am alive today only because of His grace. He paid the price for my candy. He paid it with His life and His blood set me free from all contracts I had made with the trickster.

Some people think that celebrating Halloween doesn’t matter. But it does. Witches and demons love Halloween. It’s a celebration of their “tricks” over man. They laugh at us, all dressed up in our outfits reenacting how they get into people’s houses. They are mocking our stupidity for falling for their tricks. IT DOES MATTER! Trick or treating reenacts how witches get into people’s houses. They dress up, or disguise themselves as angels of light so you don’t recognize them (or the demons who are tricking you). That’s how darkness gets into our house and tricks us to get permission. Spiritually it is also how demons get into people and trick them with gifts or knowledge to get permission to enter their bodies.

So you prefer the sweets? Sorry, the sweets stand for the gifts of the angel of light which comes and pretends it’s sweet, but is not. It’s the candy from the wicked witch in Narnia. It’s the candy house of Hansel and Grettle. It is snow white’s apple. It is the apple from the tree of knowledge of good and evil in Eden. It is the bait.

I am writing this as an archaeologist and scientist who survived kabbala and experienced the spirit world. Witchcraft is very real and Halloween glorifies the tactics of the enemy.

So why do Christians still celebrate Halloween and let their children dress up and pretend to be witches and demons and go to people’s houses to trick them? Why do they think it doesn’t matter? The Apostle Paul said:

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:22).

and

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret” Ephesians 5:11-12.

According to the Old Testament God is a jealous God, and He is still the same yesterday, today and forever. God does NOT change. The Old Testament is full of stories that shows that God does not allow evil. In fact, the Israelites were greatly punished because of it. Do you think that because Christians now have Jesus that the father’s heart has changed towards evil? Absolutely NOT! If God didn’t spare the Israelites, who were the apple of his eye, why do you think he will spare you? King Hezekiah and King Josiah had to purge their entire country from evil and the appearance of evil. God did not allow it. So does the blood of Jesus give you an excuse to think it doesn’t matter and promote his enemy?

Do you think that because we now have freedom through Jesus that we can allow the very enemy Jesus conquered at Calvary? No.

Jesus bought our freedom. We can live in freedom and should not be afraid of evil. But God gave us a free wil and wisdom to create borders so we don’t allow the enemy in. The enemy is continually trying to cross our borders to gain access or “permission” through all kinds of tactics, including candy. Jesus did not pay for our freedom with His life so that we can go back and allow evil in. We can live in freedom, with wisdom to make borders and honor for the freedom that Jesus paid for.

Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Romans 12:9

Jesus did not tolerate evil. He came to set us free from the darkness. He came to expose the works of the devil. He cast out demons. He didn’t allow them in a house and say it was alright. In fact, he did just the opposite! He died to set us free from all the contracts the demons made with us, because we fell for tricks of the trickster. You see, the candy did not come for free. There was a price to be paid. His blood flowed to pay for the price of all our candy! He wants us to live with God in the light, and have nothing to do with the darkness.

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” John 8:12.
